Foxed, creased, frayed and abraded. Mounted on cloth, bound and cropped, disbound and silked by subsequent owners. Cleaned after removal of backings 1999; some fill remains. Sheathed in mylar. In ink on verso: "A - 71". In pencil on recto "No 71 A". Military topographic map. Covers the townships of Readington and Branchburg in Hunterdon County and of Bridgewater and Hillsboro in Somerset County, New Jersey. Shows roads running through Readington, North Branch, Milltown, South Branch, Flagtown and Frankfort. Also shows buildings and owners’ names, landforms and streams. Pen-and-ink (2 different kinds), pencil on laid paper. Sheet bears a title number but not a title. Title proper derived by cataloger from longer index title given on separate index sheet filed at head of series; it describes sheet B as well as this sheet A. Statement of responsibility, date, series title and series numbering as given on same index sheet. Shows relief by hachures. Watermark: "T M W" accompanied by dove, similar to Gravell and Miller American watermark nos. 659 and 659. References: Guthorn, Peter J.
