see pg. 149 of the book Anthony: the man, etc. John Alexander Logan (9 Feb. 1826-26 Dec. 1886) Elected Congressman from Illinois in 1858. Officer in the Union Army during the U.S. Civil War who attained the rank of major general. After the Civil War, Logan helped organize the Grand Army of the Republic and represented Illinois in the House of Representatives and Senate.
