Report of the Board of Trustees Kindly and understanding in all matters, he endeared himself to his friends, and his wise counsel was coupled with his devotion to historical and patriotic activities. He served as President of the Sons of the Revolution, 1934-1936, and was a member of the Union Club of New York, the Pilgrims of New York, and the Morristown Club of Morristown, N. J. In view of the great loss this Society has sustained, it is Resolved, That The New-York Historical Society extend to his family its deepest sympathy, and place on its records this memorial minute of a lovable character. HARRIS FAHNESTOCK It is with profound sorrow that The New-York Historical Society has learned of the death of Mr. Harris Fahnestock, the donor of our splendid carriage collection, in which he took so much interest and pride while installing it in the new museum of the Society. He was elected a member of the Board of Trustees in May, 1939. His absence abroad at the time and the summer recess of the Board prevented him from taking his seat among us before his fatal illness. We know that he looked forward to a more intimate association with The New-York Historical Society, and we shall always remember his kindness and generosity in the short time he was associated with us. His collection of vehicles is a lasting memorial to him. Therefore, be it Resolved, That the Board of Trustees express to his family their sorrow and sympathy in his death. MEMBERSHIP The Society elected 59 members during the year and Mr. William Evarts Benjamin a Patron. The list follows: LIFE Norvin H. Green Robert Irving McKesson Malcolm Forbes McKesson Louis C.
