The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Delegates to the Congress did not sign the Declaration until July 19, and some delegates did not sign the document until later. About the Creator: Magee was likely James Magee, a seller of stationery and envelopes at 316 Chestnut Street, and living at 750 Florida Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the American Civil War.
