Notes: John Rodgers (12 Aug. 1812-5 May 1882) Officer in the Union Navy during the U.S. Civil War, attaining the rank of commodore during the war. Rodgers helped cover McClellan's withdrawal to Harrison's Landing and later his evacuation of the peninsula.�He later gained recognition for defeating the Confederate ironclad ram�Atlanta.
