Notes: Randolph B. Marcy (April 9, 1812-November 22, 1887) Graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1832. Well known for writing the Prairie Traveler in 1859, a frontier guidebook published by the U.S. Government. At the beginning of the Civil War Marcy served as chief of staff for General McClellan, his son-in-law, and was Inspector-General of the U. S. Army at the end of the war.
