This drawing is likely of an armed confrontation near Savannah, Georgia, between December 1864 through March 1865, as troop movements of the 17th Army Corps place them near there. Cornelius C. Platter writes in his diary on Thursday December 22nd 1864: '- A cold windy morning, Lt. Johnson and I rode down town in the afternoon - The city of Savannah is much larger than I imagined it to be yesterday. Sunday Dec 25th 1864 -- Was up early. In Afternoon went to 17th AC and saw Dave Plattes Capt Simpson. Thursday Dec 29th 1864 Capt. Vanpelt and I rode into Savannah this morning and saw the 17th AC reviewed by Gen. Sherman -- it presented a fine appearance.' On July 3, the 17th Army Corps marched from Kennesaw to somewhere near Smyrna. On July 5, they marched to Turner's Ferry, in Cobb County, Georgia.
