Livingston and Frances his wife and Margaretta Hoffman, which said Nicholas the devisee of Rebecca Bayard deceased and which Rebecca Nicholas Frances and Margaretta were the brother and sisters, and Co Heirs of Samuel Bayard Junior deceased who was Son and Heir of Samuel Bayard the elder deceased who was Son and heir of Margaret Bayard who.was one of the daughters and Co Heiresses of Stephanus Van Cortlandt deceased." The two thousand acres of land in Pound Ridge which were being quitclaimed are described as the tract which six years previously, i.e., about 1802-1804, Philip Van Cordandt had leased to: "Elisha Pelham, Samuel Peatt, Benjamin Green, Enoch Hoyt, Enoch Harris, John Holmes, Anthony Marshall, John Cross, Timothy Reynolds, John Avery, Henry Avery, Silvanus Stephens (Stevens), Stephen Bouton, Daniel Bouton and Aaron Gregory." The eight hundred and eighty-seven acres of land in Pound Ridge which were being quit-claimed are described as the land which "Philip Van Cortlandt sold to": "Elisha Avery, Joshua Mead, Gould Bouton, Benjamin Green, Samuel Brown, Henry Miller, Lewis Holmes, Enoch Claus- son, Enoch Avery, Abraham Delavan, Lewis Bostwick, Andrew Bishop, Epene[t]us Bishop, John Holmes, Peter Fleming, Jesse Brush, Silvanus Stephens and his associates and Elisha Avery . . . including a farm called the 'Knapp Farm' sold to John Jay't,] Samuel bla[c]k and others." 294
