Manuscript copy of a letter dated July 17, 1756, from Austin & Laurens of Charleston, South Carolina, to William and Samuel Vernon of Newport, Rhode Island regarding the sale of a slave shipment delivered by Captain Caleb Godfrey on the Sloop Hare. Includes mention of a dispute with Benjamin Yarnold, who attempted to return a female slave that fell ill the day after purchase.
