Manuscript copy of a letter dated July 5, 1756, from Austin & Laurens of Charleston, South Carolina, to William and Samuel Vernon of Newport, Rhode Island regarding difficulties selling a shipment of "refuse slaves." In companion letter, Austin & Laurens discuss further slave shipments and mention a dispute with Benjamin Yarnold, who attempted to return a female slave that fell ill the day after purchase.
