[Birth certificate of a female child]
Series VII: Legal Documents, 1709-1858, and undated
Subseries 1. Birth Certificates, 1800-1818
New-York Historical Society
Birth certificate of Ann, born November 15 1803 [?], to a slave belonging to John Rutherford of New York City. Document damage at right hand side with text missing. Birth year is inferred from the date of the certificate, June 7, 1804. The date of July 4, 1799, also appears in the document but probably relates to when the birth mother entered into John Rutherford's service.
