Birth certificate of Horace, born in April 1808, and Bet, born in January 1810, to a 'Negro Woman Slave named Tamer' belonging to New York City merchant James Forrest. Includes note stating that 'the said Tamer absented herself from my Service in the Month of May 1808 and did not return until the Month of November last past.'
