Followed by a letter in which Adams & Griffin further report on the state of the Richmond market, noting the great demand for slaves. In companion letter, Richard Adams mentions the marriage of William Griffin to Susan Chiswell, widow of John Robinson.
- Manuscript copy of a letter dated June 24, 1756, from Austen & Laurens of Charleston [South Carolina] to William and Samuel Vernon of Newport, Rhode Island regarding a shipment of slaves delivered by Captain [Caleb] Godfrey for sale on the Vernon's behalf. Followed by a letter in which Austin and Laurens express their concern that the slaves, whom they consider to be of inferior quality, will not sell well if another Sloop arrives in the harbor.
